Dollar Tree Shelf Liner Cricut Hack

Image
This little Cricut hack took my crafting to a whole new level! Since I have discovered this hack I haven’t used vinyl as a stencil since. I mean, why would I? This dollar tree shelf liner cost only $1.00 per roll and it’s 6 inches longer/wider. Below is a step by step walk through on how to make a simple wooden sign using the Dollar Tree shelf liner as a stencil and transfer tape. Get your rolls ready. Cut a piece from each roll to size for your stencil. Choose an image or saying for your stencil and cut with your Cricut or  Silhouette machine. I use the lowest setting for this. It’s a little thinner than vinyl. Remove the letters or image with a Cricut tool or similar tool you can buy on EBay , that’s where I got mine. Once you remove the letters set the stencil you’ve created aside. Take the clear shelf liner a.k.a transfer tape back off and place the transfer tape over your stencil. Take your time and make sure it’s lined up close to the same. Watch for

Thrift Store Farmhouse Decor

Image
This DIY was so simple to do and cost me less than $10.00! First let me say that pretty much any vase, bowl, candle holder and container can be transformed into beautiful farmhouse decor, all you need is some white paint! I’ve had this vase for quite some time and used to use it but I’ve been re doing rooms and it kinda got pushed into a closet and that was it. Then the other day while scrolling through Pinterest I saw a beautiful centerpiece with pretty flowers and thought, my big vase would be prefect! So I went to Walmart and bought one can of white spray paint, the cheap 99 cents kind of course. Then over to the Dollar Tree to check out their Spring floral collection. I ended up buying 4 bunches of purple lilac looking flowers ($4.00 total) and headed back home. The hardest part of this whole project was trying to find something tall enough and sturdy enough to place my vase on upside down to spray paint, it’s a rather large vase. I ended up using a big mason jar and 2

DIY Farmhouse Ladder

Image
Farmhouse style decor is everywhere right now! So it’s no surprise that I had to try and make a farmhouse ladder for my kitchen! I decided to make this project one day when I was stuck inside due to 12+ inches of snow. I couldn’t run to the hardware store so I used what I had in my wood pile at home but this project can easily be made for $10 depending on how tall you’d like your ladder and how many steps. The wood needed for this project is 2 different sizes. They are both 1 inch thick, just different widths. First you’ll need is 1 and a half inches wide, this piece will be the two outside pieces. My ladder is 51 inches tall but to make this easier if you’re buying I’d make it 48 inches. Just buy an 8 ft long piece and cut it in half. If you’d like it taller than 4 feet you’ll have to buy 2 pieces and cut them to your desired height. The next piece of wood is two and a half inches wide, these are the pieces for the “steps”. Again, this is totally up to you as to how many

The easiest DIY farmhouse craft you’ll ever make

Image
This little diy is the easiest and probably cheapest craft you’ll ever make! For $4.00 and less than 5 minutes of your time you’ll  have this cute farmhouse style galvanized tin with the prettiest artificial flowers I’ve seen on a long time! I have previously used this floral in another project and loved it so much that I wanted more of it where see it and you can really enjoy how pretty this artificial floral bundle is. Personally I love fresh flowers and I’m usually disappointed in mostly anything artificial but as soon as I saw these I instantly loved them! Best part is they are only 97 cents each! So I grabbed a couple and waited until I found the perfect container for them. Fast forward a day and one trip to the dollar tree and I find this adorable galvanized tin! All the Spring decor is out in full swing at the dollar tree and honestly it’s my favorite place right now!  They actually come in 2 different sizes of these galvanized tins. One is taller than the other. This one

The Only Banana Bread Muffin Recipe You’ll Ever Need

Image
This banana bread muffin recipe has been my go to recipe for years! It’s hands down the easiest and quickest way to whip up something delicious and wholesome! One of my favorite things about this recipe is how easily you can just add in something special at the end and make a different muffin each time. I almost always throw in a dash of cinnamon and vanilla when I make these, that’s my favorite and it’s simple so the kids don’t complain. I really don’t think walnuts would be a big hit with my 4 year old. So as far as ingredients go the list can be quite simple or a bit longer depending on how creative you’re feeling. The basics: • 2/3 ripe bananas • 1/3 cup butter (melted) • 1 egg • 1 cup granulated sugar • 1 tsp baking soda • 1 1/2 cups flour Optional Ingredients: • vanilla • cinnamon • walnuts • chocolate chips • or anything that sounds yummy The directions are super easy, you don’t need a mixer and best part, the clean up is minimal! All you need is a mediu

Up date office space on a budget

Image
It’s the little details that always make us smile and full us up with joy. Those little things are just what we each need in our lives, no matter how we find them, cherish them. For me it was the little details I added in while cleaning out my office space for the new year. I completely emptied my desk and everything on top and started fresh for the new year. I honestly think that’s the best way to clear clutter and get rid of the things you simply have no use for anymore.  I don’t know about you but I can’t work, let alone think, in a messy area. Same goes for the kitchen too. So my goal this year is this: Simplify, organize and prioritize. Simplicity was achieved when I cleared the desk of all clutter, next came organization. My main source of chaos is the papers that filter into this house daily. Papers from each child every day when they get home from school, the mail , which is mostly junk and papers from work. My kindergartener alone could fill a room with one weeks

Hello from the editor

Image
Hello, welcome to my blog. My name is Jessica, I’m a 34 year old mother of 5, business owner, photographer, and for many many years a crafter.  After being a photographer for 5 years while home with my littlest and spending most of my free time crafting, I combined my passions of motherhood and art. I followed my dreams and opened Creation Station, an arts & crafts studio for kids. It’s nice to have a place where kids can apply hands on skills and create something cool instead of the run around chaos that most of the time happens at kids parties. I spend most of my time at the studio with my littlest crafting during the day, posting on social media all my deals and savvy ways of creating useful items and decor on a budget.  So since I’ve basically been “blogging” on social media for years I thought it was time to do it exclusively! I started The Savvy Mamma blog a few years ago and just kind of forgot about it, they’re a lot of work! With raising the babies and at t

DIY $6.00 HOME sign

Image
Spring is right around the corner it seems, especially where I live in PA it’s 50 degrees in January today! So needless to say I’m feeling like Spring today! I recently discovered that Lowe’s has packs of 10 paint sticks for only 99 cents! Naturally I know they are going to make a great addition to my DIY projects. So I grabbed a few and began brainstorming. This rustic looking floral HOME sign is my first paint stick project. There will be more to come, I already have tons of ideas that so want to try.  For this project you will need:  • 2 packs of paint sticks (totaling 20 sticks)  • An H, M and E wooden letter (I got mine from Walmart for 97 cents each)  • Paint (any color you choose really)  • Floral bunch of lilacs (again, from Walmart 97 cents)  • Hot glue gun and 2 glue sticks  If you’d like to watch my DIY YouTube video you can here   https://youtu.be/77AejbFOFcQ    or continue reading for step by step instructions  Here’s a quick pic of all the
